The original Beile, who composed the Manchu aristocracy, also commanded the Manchu Banners as "Banner Lords". These Lords, also called "Iron-Capped Princes" were originally the sons of Nurgaci, founder of the Qing Dynasty. After his death the Beile Hong Taiji was selected as Khan. Hanwei's Beile Dao commemorates this Prince. Its beautifully detailed iron furniture, decorated with archaic style dragons, complements the patterning of the Damascus blade and the rayskin-covered scabbard adds to the rugged richness of the sword. Truly a collector piece, this Imperial Dao is creating a demand in its homeland such that this sword will only be available in limited quantities.
