Taiji Sword Martial Applications

Scott M. Rodell demonstrates the martial applications of the Chinese double edged straight sword (jian) from several angles, including the overhead view, at both slow & full speeds, in this hour-long video.

Rodell studied the use of two systems of taiji sword with renowned masters Wang Yen-nian & T.T. Liang. He learned the Yang Family Michuan Taiji Sword, the subject of this video, with Wang; Rodell learned the public Yang Style Taiji Sword with Liang.

Throughout this presentation, Rodell focuses on the Eight Basic Cuts of the Michuan system to explain each application in detail, from the manner in which the sword is employed, the zone of the blade used and the target for the cut.
